Lisa Sandoval, Partner, advocates for individuals who have experienced discrimination or retaliation in the workplace or a denial of their civil service protections. She litigates and advises on claims involving discrimination based on race, national origin, sex, disability, citizenship or immigration status, and more. Her clients include federal and private sector employees bringing individual or class claims. Ms. Sandoval practices before the federal courts, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, and arbitrators. Ms. Sandoval is determined to protect civil servants’ rights during these unprecedented times.

Ms. Sandoval has gained expertise in employment law through her work at three different federal agencies, as well as a plaintiff-side employment law firm. Immediately prior to joining Atkinson Law Group, Ms. Sandoval served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the Civil Rights Division, U.S. Department of Justice. There, she investigated and litigated discrimination claims that resulted in substantial relief for complainants and more equitable corporate policies for workers. At the Civil Rights Division, she handled a heavy caseload of some of the most complex, high-profile matters in her section, earning her an Assistant Attorney General Special Commendation Award in 2024.

Prior to her work at the Justice Department, Ms. Sandoval served as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Civil Rights, where she investigated universities and colleges to determine whether they were engaging in sex discrimination in violation of Title IX. Before joining the Energy Department, she represented federal and private sector employees in discrimination and wage and hour claims at a highly respected plaintiff-side employment law firm. Hired through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, she began her legal career as an Honors Attorney at the Justice Department.

Ms. Sandoval is a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and birding.
