Abigail Young, Associate, advocates for individuals in the federal and private sectors in
discrimination and retaliation matters. She practices before federal courts, the U.S. Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB),
the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, and arbitrators. Ms. Young is dedicated to protecting her clients’ civil rights and civil service rights.
Prior to Atkinson Law Group, Ms. Young served as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she began her tenure as a Legal Honors Attorney.
In law school, Ms. Young interned for the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Voting Rights Project of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. She also served as a Certified Legal Intern for the Miami Dade Public Defenders’ Office. Additionally, Ms. Young was a clinical intern for the Housing Practice of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and the University of Miami School of Law Innocence Clinic. She served as an editor of the University of Miami Race and Social Justice Law Review, where she published an article titled, Protecting Restorative Justice Participants: The Implications of Implementing Restorative Justice Practices Without Proper Safeguards for Participants.
Ms. Young is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA). Ms. Young is proficient in Spanish and enjoys reading, painting, and walking around the District of Columbia.
