Reductions in Force (RIFs) can be incredibly complex and challenging to navigate as an employee; even one as highly ranked and tenured as a career Senior Executive Service (SES) member. RIFs should target positions, not people. Agencies are required to draft their own RIF procedures, including procedures that apply to SES members.
